Discover Mark Ryden’s Anima Animals, a series of enchanted characters exhibited in 2021 at @galerieperrotin in Shanghai in collaboration with Kasmin.
Encased in ornate, hand-carved wooden frames of the artist’s design, Ryden’s playful creatures are rendered ethereal and godlike. “Ryden has chosen to bestow considerable devotion to these fantastical and lyrical beings,” writes Linda Tesner. An experience with his meticulously-realized paintings is “an invitation to see the world in an unconventional way,” or perhaps even an opportunity to be transported into an exalted realm.
